The Dining Room Supervisor is responsible for enhancing the overall Resident dining experience through the provision of exceptional oversight and culinary training to the servers and to uphold service standards of all menu offerings through multiple dining venues.  This is to be handled in The Sterling Touch® professional, friendly, courteous, helpful and timely manner, resulting in a very high level of satisfaction for Residents and their guests. You will work closely with the Executive Director, Executive Chef, Director of Facets™, and all other Grand Living service departments to create an environment of well-being across all facets of the residents lives in keeping with the global Facets™ philosophy.  Position is under the general guidance of the Executive Chef with a strong working relationship with the National Director of Culinary Operations in accordance with Community standards, processes, procedures and practices.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in Start Sterling! line up every day
  • Greet the Residents, guests, fellow employees and vendors in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Train and manage all dining staff
  • Ensure uniform and grooming standards of all dining service staff
  • Supervise and coordinate culinary activities for all dining venues: Bistro, Casual, Formal, Luminations® Memory Care and Club Room, as well as special events and private functions
  • Adhere to techniques of food presentation and food quality standards
  • Ensure a prepared, properly staffed and efficient dining service for all dining venues
  • Ensure Eldermark E-menu is maintained for each dining venue and dining period
  • Ensure all dining venues are presented using the Grand Living standards 
  • Ensure all culinary equipment is cleaned and maintained in good working order at all times
  • Ensure dining venues are always safe and sanitary and in compliance with local and state regulatory requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • College or Culinary school degree preferred

 
Experience:

  • Three or more years of Front of House oversight in country club, fine dining, restaurant and/or upscale Senior living
  • Understanding or experience in dining room service standards required

 

SPECIFIC POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:

  • Excellent working knowledge of the fundamentals of cooking and dietary understanding.
  • Excellent working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation.
  • Knowledge of operating all kitchen equipment, i.e., stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, steamers, kettles, dish machine, etc.
  • Mathematical skills necessary to understand recipes, measurements, requisition amounts and portion sizes.
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language in order to direct, manage, hire and train kitchen staff, complete requisitions, read recipes and communicate with other employees as well as Residents and their guests.  
  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hands and arms in order to use all kitchen equipment and utensils (e.g. knives, spoons spatulas, tongs, slicers, etc.)
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move or push on a hand cart/truck, goods weighing a maximum of 50 lbs.
