 Responsible for overseeing and enhancing the overall Resident and family experience through the provision of comprehensive nursing leadership to the staff working within our independent and assisted living care environment. Assists with assuring the general health and well-being of residents through the delivery of comprehensive and high quality services. This is to be handled in The Sterling Touch friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner, resulting in a very high level of Resident satisfaction.  This position is under the general guidance of the Health and Wellness Director in accordance with Community standards, processes, procedures, practices and philosophy.



      Essential Functions: 

  • Participate in Start Sterling! line up every day.
  • Greet the Residents, guests, fellow employees and vendors in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Providing nursing services including medication administration and delegation, as well as provision of care and services to residents who have orders by their attending physician to be admitted to the community for assisted living care per State regulations.
  • Ensure the evaluation and clinical competence of assigned nursing personnel, assisted living aides, and medication aides (as allowed by State regulations) by participation in orientation, education, teaching and supervision of staff.
  • Conducts frequent rounds to evaluate effectiveness of care delivery.
  • Provide direct nursing services to residents in accordance with State regulations within Assisted Living community; including observing, assessing does this need to be removed for LPN, do we need two separate job descriptions? and reporting resident condition changes.
  • Receive and transcribe physician orders, assuring the implementation of care plans, investigating and documenting all accidents and incidents, medication administration, treatment orders, electronic chart notes, admission/discharge/transfer paperwork, working with other health care professional and community staff to provide timely and responsive care services to our residents
  • Notify Medical Providers and resident representatives of change in a resident's condition
  • Use best-practice nursing judgment in monitoring residents changes in condition and take appropriate steps to address changes
  • Responsible for ensuring that staffing is adequate at all times to meet resident personalized service plans and needs.



  • Assists Health and Wellness Director to ensure medical supplies are ordered and available in adequate quantity for the nursing department.
  •  Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:
  1. Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security.
  2. Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data.
  3. Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  4. Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.Other:Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, as detailed in the Grand Living at Lake Lorraine Employee Handbook and as may be established by Grand Living from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.Due to resident expectations and both planned and unplanned events/occurrences, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business and service needs of the Community.Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Grand Living's standards, procedures and processes, including all government and industry regulations, for the safe and efficient operation of the Community. Employees who fail to meet the Grand Living at Lake Lorraine's expectations in all areas will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.        
  5. In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the Community:

  • Perform other duties as requested, such as, moving supplies and equipment, cleaning up spills, etc.



The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities: 

  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language in order to educate, train and supervise staff; meet with residents and their families to facilitate appropriate assessments and development of personalized care plans; utilize and train others on operational software for delivery of care documentation and record keeping; and communicate with other employees effectively.  
  • Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.
  •  Excellent communications in both verbal and written form, with residents, family members, peers, employees, and vendors
  • Ability to work in concert with all other departments to provide an exceptional resident experience
  • Leadership skills to oversee and manage caregivers.



  • Associates degree in Licensed Practical Nursing or Registered Nurse



  • 3+ years' experience in nursing. 2+ years experience as a supervisor in a nursing home or assisted living environment.


      Licenses or certificates:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
  • Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate.
